Inclusive and empowered workforces are required to create fair job opportunities and legislation that protects all members of society. The Employment and Social Protection Working Group endeavors to boost economic growth across the world through advocating for increased participation of youth, women and persons with disabilities in economic activities.
The working group will recommend policies that create favorable working conditions for all and, in particular, protect and enable women, and youth in the changing global labor market.
Hisham El Rouby is a Synergos Senior Fellow and Ashoka Fellow. At Synergos, Hisham is regional director in the Arab World and serves as the Arab World Social Innovators Representative for Egypt, Lebanon, and Morocco. Hisham founded ETIJAH Youth and Development Consultancy Institute, a specialized institute contributing to the development and dissemination of community development methodologies. Hisham cofounded and chairs the Youth Association for Population and Development, the first youth organization in Egypt. He also founded the Egyptian Volunteer Center, a national database for internship and volunteer opportunities and the BADER volunteer program, a partnership with the Ministry of Education which works to enhance and broaden the reach of volunteer programs in schools.
His work focuses on the promotion of social entrepreneurship particularly among the youth working alongside youth-serving governmental and nongovernmental organizations. Prior to Synergos, Hisham worked with the Near East Foundation in Cairo and the European Union.
Hammam Zare currently works at The Society of Majid Bin Abdulaziz for Development and Social Services (Majid Society) as a general manager, specializing in management and marketing consulting.
Hammam has held positions across a variety of sectors including Director of Jeddah International Exhibitions and Conferences Center, Secretary of Jeddah Festival, Country Manager of Dabbagh Information Technology (Saudi Arabia), Advisor to Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City and Executive
Director of Arab Conference Company. In addition, he was a member of the founding teams of both the Jeddah Economic Forum (JEF) and the Jeddah Festival.
