C20 Resumes its Process in Saudi Arabia

Following its handover in Tokyo, Japan on the 19th of November 2019, the C20 formally establishes its structure in order to resume its process in 2020. The C20 structure comprises of a diverse group of experts from Saudi and international civil society including members from past presidencies in Japan, Argentina, Germany and Australia, as well as, future C20 presidencies in Italy and India. The C20 process is structured in accordance with the C20 Principles, that promote the global character of the process, along with preserving the continuity, transparency and inclusivity of the process. The 2020 C20 will be led by Nouf bint Muhammad as she assumes her role as 2020 C20 Chair along with the 2020 C20 Co-Sherpas Ms. Rahaf Al Sanosi and Mr. Osamah Alhenaki. The C20 Chair and Co-Sherpas will work closely with the C20 steering committee, the international advisory committee, and local and international leads to advance the policy and advocacy agenda and coordinate the execution of the C20 action plan throughout the year. The 2020 C20 will include 11 official working groups as a continuation to the legacy of previous C20s, the titles of the working groups are:

  • Anti-Corruption
  • Employment and Social Protection
  • Education
  • Global Health
  • Climate, Energy, and Sustainability
  • International Financial Architecture
  • Local2Global
  • Gender
  • Infrastructure
  • Trade and Investment
  • Digital Economy

The C20 will hold its first event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on the 12th of January, 2020 and looks forward to welcoming civil society from around the globe to join.
