C20 was invited to participate in the 1st G20 Development Working Group meeting on 22 January 2019, held in Tokyo, Japan.
Naoko Shiroya, Japan Local Coordinator of C20 Education Working Group participated in the meeting on behalf of the C20, and presented introduction of C20 Summit, to be held in Tokyo, and recommendation on education.
The main suggestions of the C20 were as follows:
-The purpose of C20 is to advocate both Japanese and other G20 countries to reflect global voices of CSOs, and achieve a society which no one will be left behind.
-C20 Key policy recommendations are aligned with Sustainable Development goals.
-C20 Education working group welcome that G20 Development Working Group prioritized education issues in the context of Human Capital Investment.
-C20 recognize the important role of education as a main driver of development and in achieving SDGs.
-Education is related to global economy. According to a recent World Bank research, the total global loss from not educating girls is up to $30 trillion.
