»C20 participated in the G20 Climate Sustainability Workshop

C20 was invited to participate in the 1st G20 Climate Sustainability Workshop and made presentation on 16 February 2019, in Tokyo, Japan.

Catherine Abreu, alternate to International Coordinator of the C20 Environment, Climate and Energy Working Group (ECE WG) participated in the session “Enhancing Partnership with Non-State Actors” on behalf of the C20.

The suggested key issues for G20 2019 were linked to:

-Shifting climate finance for an environmentally-sound and just transition to low carbon economies in the context of poverty eradication
-Climate Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD)
-Enhancing Climate ambition in line with 1.5ºC
-Long term decarbonization strategies
-Low-carbon and climate-resilient infrastructure
-Resilience for vulnerable communities and ecosystems
-Fossil fuel subsidies phase-out
-Energy efficiency
-Energy system transformation: renewable energy investment; emergent technologies; coal phase-out
