The Civil 20 (C20) will be transforming the Face-to-Face Meetings 22-24 March 2020 to a virtual convention, in light of the outbreak of COVID-19 and based on the very high global risk assessed by the WHO and other relevant entities. This will ensure that we can include participants from across the globe safely and effectively.
We recognize that COVID-19 is a global threat. The health and well-being of C20 stakeholders and the global community is our top priority. We would like to express our solidarity with those affected and with the health workers who are doing all they can to prevent the spread of the virus.
This year’s C20 has prioritized ensuring a robust participation by civil society in the G20 process, and opening up this participation to civil society organizations, particularly from the Global South. CSOs are encouraged to participate in the online discussions to make their voices heard. Registration is here: https://civil-20.org/registration/.
The meeting program has been amended to better suit the virtual format. This will encourage increased participation in the Working Group discussions; and more details will be posted soon.
As an official engagement group of the G20, we are committed to prioritizing global health security. We continue to call on all G20 leaders to fully prioritize building resilient health systems, and supporting research that is needs-driven, evidence- based and adheres to the principles of affordability, equity and accessibility.
